Everybody knows TED Talks. They are informative, innovative and trending.

TED first appeard in 1984 when Richard Saul Wurman’s connected Technology, Entertainment and Design. Even though it resulted in a conference, the outcome wasn’t very good.

It wasn’t until 1990 that two guys called Hayy Marks and Wurman decided to give it another try. This time it was a success.TEDxFirst TED Talks were very similar to the ones we have today. They were disruptive and relaxed making people feel engaged to its purpose.

A good example is Hans Rosling talk in 2006. He introduced data visualization with a lot of humour and relevant information. Not only, he criticised how unavailable data was back then and how design could help changing that reality.

TED mission is to spread ideas. By saying this, they mean to communicate findings and to help people in making connections.

As TED Talks went viral through the years, more and more people wanted to be part of it. TEDx came to unite organizers around the world and create new TED experiences. TEDx events are local gatherings that unleash new ideas, inspire and inform a community. Not only, it gives an unique opportunity to engage to something and provoke conversations that matter at a local level.

Recently, TED has also focused in educational videos. Using a different approach, educational videos use animation to explain an especific topic and make information even more interactive.

TED has been changing the way we communicate Technology, Entertainment and Design. More than an idea that worked, TED is an unique and important communication tool.

How about we make science a bit more TEDx?
